A Barletta, at the Barna Cafe, Thursday December 16 inaugurated the exhibition by Stephen Ormas, entitled "The Daughter of Fortune," by Esther De Rosa . The artist proposes a series of portraits of women in the world, renewing his artistic personality in the light of a lively narrative and guided by the symbolic color realism.

"One is not born a woman: one becomes" said Simone de Beauvoir . Being a woman in her deepest ontological connotation is the leitmotif of the series of portraits of Stephen Ormas. As these have become the subject or are still trying to become is clearly visible along with the look of the individual works and focusing on details, attitudes, poses, the looks of the protagonists. The purple kimono , the only attribute they have in common, dress is the physical and spiritual that recounts and dress as women and that somehow becomes the real message of life, proud statement of your own way of being peremptory affirmation of her femininity. So it only seems to refer to the historical and social connotations of the figure of the geisha: the protagonists of the works of Ormas fact have nothing to do with subservience and submission male gender, substantiated in real ceremonious rituals and gestures. Instead they are all different and mysterious icons of contemporary femininity accompanied by as many "attributes" - such as a fan, a book, a cup - and represent an entire generation of young daughters of fortune in search of their own, personal way of being and show women in actuality.

heirs of those ideals and values \u200b\u200barising from the class struggle , the process of empowerment of women and achievement of equal opportunities, the figures portrayed as victims of a real historical betrayal, now they are bewildered by the connivance of ghosts of a past and a present renegade now they see again and continually questioned her femininity. So even though each individual character, which originated from personal experience, the story of his life, all told the same daily battle, mothers, sisters, daughters, partners and lovers, while awaiting the arrival of a new life or the show now with tenacity, dreams broken and desire to exist in an autonomous and free, vividly express their being on the canvas in the world .

All young people who are advancing strongly and strengthened security, unfortunately leaning towards an uncertain future but not scared, and who look with pride the way that, sadly, or perhaps bravely, intend to travel. A dress so there is only a kimono: figures wearing personality and character, whose gestures and poses are the direct expression and the observer who is not lay eyes on the bodies and flesh, clothing and physical, in the round, blood and brain.

The artist stops the immediacy of a moment and picks up women's bodies in the foreground reconstructing the naturalness of everyday life and still have the look of the characters capture the curiosity of the observer. Accomplice a warm light, the limits of sensuality, the strokes stretch point, outlining the soft curves of the subjects , the folds of her kimono, emphasizing the profound symbolic and pictorial narrative of the background, interpreting body with yellow, 'orange, red, almost creating a soft golden cloud that surrounds e valorizza la presenza forte, certa delle giovani. Così l’artista è riuscita a dipingere il senso di una nuova conquista: nell’esercizio costante e orgoglioso della propria femminilità i soggetti ritratti riscattano il proprio Essere donna, assurgendo a protagoniste vittoriose di un presente difficile.
